Krystina Bowen

Ever since I was six years old, music has been an abiding passion of mine. You could find me singing in the car, at the dinner table, and pretty much everywhere I went. As I grew older, this love of music deepened into a strong commitment to the craft, which has allowed me to achieve many goals as a musician, music teacher, and music therapist.

I'm truly grateful to the people who have supported me over the years and helped me reach where I am today. Various high school music teachers and my family have been important sources of encouragement and guidance for me along the way.

For over a decade I have been teaching children of all ages voice and piano. My passion for vocal teaching started to blossom while I was enrolled in the Advanced Vocal Jazz program at Mohawk College at 17 years old, where I honed my skills and gained valuable experience. After graduating from Mohawk in 2011, I continued my vocal training and also pursued further education in music and psychology at Acadia University. I eventually earned my Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Acadia in 2015

Since graduating, I have had the pleasure of taking on a variety of exciting roles, including music therapy intern, vocal teacher, piano teacher, studio director, daycare music programmer, community senior and youth choir leader, senior music therapist, music wellness facilitator, and more. I've enjoyed every opportunity to share my love of music and help others explore their own musical abilities.

Currently, I am in the process of becoming an accredited music therapist and psychotherapist, which will allow me to provide even more comprehensive support to those in need.

My most recent endeavours have been working closely with Katie’s Music Studio in Brantford, Ontario and working with Kayla's Children Centre in Thornhill, Ontario. At Katie's Studio I offer personalized music therapy and music lessons to students and school programs throughout the local area. I also had the privilege of interning for Kayla's Children Centre where I worked with children with developmental, physical & behavioural disabilities in a therapeutic and educational setting.

With over 15 years of experience, I'm excited to be a supportive presence for those in need, helping them achieve their goals and express themselves through music. It brings me great joy to be able to lend a listening ear, teach music, and offer guidance to my clients to the best of my abilities.
